The Silverlake Chorus carols in Paul Smith scarves
It seemed like a discreet, restrained party, but that’s not the full story of any Paul Smith event.
On Dec. 2, the prominent U.K. fashion house threw a Christmas/5-Year Anniversary party at the pink, cube shaped Paul Smith shop on Melrose Avenue. Producing the event was L.A. party king Bryan Rabin, who balanced the vibe of an intimate get together with, well, a big event. For sounds, The Silverlake Chorus performed at the party. The 25-member chorale group of L.A. Eastsiders typically sing tunes of indie-rock heroes like Beck, Zoey Deschanel and Ben Lee.
For visuals, classic Christmas cartoons were screened on the store’s exterior. For food and drink, guests sipped Moet champagne and ate scrumptious treats like Banana Tempura dipped in a caramel sauce. Unfortunately Paul Smith did not grace the boutique and play the host, which was the case at the boutique’s debut party in 2005. But guests did their best to make fashion statements in his honor. A few of them follow.
