Walt Disney built an empire on a cute mouse, Sanrio created a huge following and business on a pokerfaced kitten, Los Angeles-based Tokidoki is forging a big biz on an adorable ghoul. His name is Adios.

The pint sized Grim Reaper presided over the Dec. 9 debut of Tokidoki’s boutique at Santa Monica Place in Santa Monica,Calif. The 880-square-foot store is Tokidoki’s second boutique, and the brand is thinking about debuting another store in Hawai’i said Ivan Arnold, Tokidoki’s chief executive.

Tokidoki also made news this year with its debut of its beauty collaboration with Sephora, a vinyl doll collaboration with Karl Lagerfeld and debut of a young men’s line TKDK. Tokidoki Vice President Cindy Shin said its holiday 2010 and its spring 2011 women’s line would feature more young, contemporary styles such as a fitted pea coat which retailed for $92 at the Santa Monica Place store.
