Hong Kong Fashion Week is an odd mix of sourcing show with runway shows.
And one of the standouts on the catwalk during the Spring/Summer 2012 event, held July 4-7 at the Hong Kong Convention Centre, was the assortment of student creations. The Chinese University of Hong Kong filled the runway with over-the-top fashion that only students have the audacity to dish up.
Shapes were odd and color was everywhere. Daisy Li came up with an explosion of vibrantly hued knit balls for several of her dresses. Jose Cheung, in his collection called New Indigenous, saw a burst of pastel shades formed into geometric designs. And Onion Chiu had fun with his collection called Black Humor.
There's nothing like a student fashion show to give you inspiration to be outrageous.
