Certo Takes Avedon

Dino Certo at Avedon

Beverly Hills boutique Avedon held a party for Dino Certo Nov. 3, where Certo told spectacular tales about Hollywood’s fashion past. In the 1960s, he ran a shop which made suits for the likes of Frank Sinatra, Sammy Davis Jr. and Johnny Carson. During those days, Hollywood and Los Angeles were undoubtedly suit towns. “Years ago, the customer would know more than the tailors,” he remembered.

Since the 1980s, Dino has been manufacturing footwear under his self-named Certo label. He designs men’s fashion footwear and Italian factories and workshops together the shoes. His latest shoes were on display at Avedon on Nov. 3. One shoe design, called the Dante, got a unique look by being put through a washing cycle. Vive le difference!
