Thongs Are Eco-Chic

Making millions of T-shirts, rompers, jeans, shiny swimwear and mesh leotards makes for millions and millions of scraps of fabric that usually end up in landfills. Today, on Earth Day, American Apparel announced Creative Reuse, a program that finds new uses for leftover fabric scraps.

Bowties, sashes, hair bows, scrunchies, braided belts and - because this is American Apparel we're talking about - teeny tiny little thongs are all available through Creative Reuse. And if their long list of items made from repurposed fabric and scraps doesn't include that one item you've been pining for, you can buy a Bag-O-Scraps and get crafty at home. Each Bag-O-Scraps comes with a booklet of possible projects and how-to instructions.

Awesome Idea
Awesome post. Reminds me of Bleachblack.com's DIYs. I heard that RVCA's Design Director left...do you know if this is true? American Apparel is certainly the SoCal Fashion Innovator. Sara
