Erin Barajas
Erin Barajas joined California Apparel News in 2005 as manufacturing editor. While her beat includes the seemingly benign apparel manufacturing, denim and the surf/skate industry, Erin has found her job to be action-packed. As proof, Aaron Chang, world-famous surf photographer, took a photograph of her clinging in terror to a surfboard on her first-ever surf trip and posted it on Surfline.com. Another time, she ran away from a rock star at an industry dinner party. She maintains that he snuck up behind her. Erin received a degree in Creative Writing from the University of Southern California.

The Paskowitz Family - The Stuff Movies are Made Of
Jonathan Paskowitz is no stranger to Hollywood and celebrity hype. He was the surf/stunt consultant on Blue Crush (which, for better or worse, sent tons of newbies into the waves in search of the stoke) and has taught rockstars, hipsters and editors (ie: Vogue's Hamish Bowles) how to surf. He even appeared in the pages of Vogue this year when he helped teach starlet Blake Lively to surf.

It shouldn't be any surprise at all, seeing as how the apparel industry is rife with collaborations, but this latest one is sort of unique.
Costa Mesa, Calif.-based action-sports brand Hurley has teamed up with Weezer for "Rocks You Back to School" - a "fashion and music collaboration" that includes limited-edition Hurley wovens, T-shirts and hoodies for guys and girls inspired by Weezer.

Today, Apparel News' mailbag held a little treat for me: an advance copy of Nina Garcia's new book "Look Book: What to Wear for Every Occassion." Garcia, of course, isn't a newbie at telling people what to wear. She has has written three other style books and is Marie Claire's fashion director as well as a judge on the Lifetime reality series Project Runway.

Resurrection Vintage is feeling all patriotic and summer-loving, so they've decided to extend their annual store-wide summer sale. The sale, which will now run through through July 15, gives vintage afficionados (guilty as charged) in Los Angeles and New York more time to snag Chanel, Margiela, Alaia, Pucci and Hermes clothes; jewelry; and housewares for 20 percent to 50 percent off.

the harder they fall. And no one has fallen harder than Lady Gaga, who earlier this week took a tumble off of her 10-inch heels all the while being surrounded by paparazzi and bystanders at Heathrow Airport in London. While wearing a bra and leather chaps and a cholo bandana, no less. Ooops.

If Gaga decides to get back on that horse, er, heel, we've pulled together a round-up of dangerous heels she may want to tame.

Shareen Mitchell has made quite the name for herself whipping vintage finds into must-have gems for fashionable girls in L.A. and New York. Sometimes she reworks it—moving a hem, changing a sleeve, reimagining the entire silhouette—sometimes she just pops it on a hanger, but somehow Shareen's vintage always feels fresh.

The New York Post is reporting that Paul Frank Industries, the Costa Mesa, Calif.–based brand that built its empire on the back of the much-loved Julius the Monkey character, is looking to be acquired.
