Deborah Belgum
Deborah Belgum joined the California Apparel News as the newspaper's senior editor in early 2003. Her first day on the job was spent covering MAGIC Marketplace in Las Vegas, where there was a 3 a.m. fire in the hotel where she and other staffers were staying. It's been a hot job ever since. Belgum, who has worked for the Associated Press, the Los Angeles Times, the Orange County Register and the Los Angeles Business Journal, covers apparel sourcing, the ports, economics and the apparel business. She attended the University of Colorado and the University of Southern California.

Calling all vintage fashion buffs. There's a big show for you coming Feb. 10-11 at the Queen Mary in Long Beach.
More than 100 booths will be set up, with 60 of those selling vintage fashion. This is the third year for InspirationLA taking on all things old. Think shoes, shirts, pants, dresses, purses.

The first batch of designers headed for the new "Designers in Residence" program housed inside the Macy's at Union Square have been named.
The six designers, who all live in San Francisco but come from spots around the world, will be the first lucky ones to take part in the just-launched Fashion Incubator San Francisco, which has an incredible program.

The "Hammering Man" in Seoul, South Korea
How is it that you go on vacation but never get far away from your work place?
For me it was stopping off in Seoul, South Korea, while on a two-week vacation in Asia. The first thing I saw when I stepped out of the Seoul subway was a large, dark statue that looked incredibly familiar. Had I really not flown to South Korea after all but done a non-stop, round-trip flight to Los Angeles?

Ashley Paige
Ashley Paige has been crocheting bikinis for years out of her Los Angeles studio.
Now, for those who have only had a chance to see them on the runway, you can get a closer look at them at her new store, which is holding its grand opening party at 8 p.m.on Dec. 14. She will be hosting the shindig with Bob Yari, of Yari Film Group, at the 7501 Sunset Blvd. location.
It sounds like fun. One of the celebrities scheduled to be there is former supermodel Janice Dickinson.

Just in time for the holidays, Banana Republic today threw open its doors for its first flagship store in France, located on the renowned shopping boulevard, Champs Elysees Avenue in Paris.
The San Francisco-based chain, which is part of Gap Inc., is slowly invading Europe. Last year, the retailer opened its first European emporium in Milan. Earlier this year it opened a franchised Banana Republic store in Moscow. The company also has an e-commerce site geared just for Europe.
