Kingpins Opens in Downtown L.A. Fashion District

An overview of the Kingpins Show at the Cooper Design Space

The vibe at the Kingpins Show was as casual as the apparel being displayed at the two-day event that opened today (Jan. 10) on the top floor of the Cooper Design Space in downtown Los Angeles.

I truly wanted to rnsotcuct a word in order to appreciate you for the fabulous advice you are posting on this site. My time intensive internet search has finally been paid with reasonable facts and strategies to write about with my co-workers. I would mention that most of us site visitors actually are quite blessed to exist in a fabulous community with very many marvellous individuals with great tactics. I feel pretty fortunate to have encountered the web page and look forward to plenty of more fabulous moments reading here. Thanks once more for a lot of things.

note from blog moderatorI just did a Google acersh for Cushman apparel. And found Don's website and blog on the first page. It’s fifth from the bottom but on the first page. Needless to say I’m pretty proud of myself doing it in less than a week.I am Don's web guy. I have set up many websites but few blogs. This one runs off of WordPress. It's a very easy interface to learn.I have put up two widgets a calendar and a donations. Right now it works but it will go to me. Until I can teach Don how not to loose it in the net, I will hold any donations for him.I look forward to make this blog Don's Window on the Web. How to keep up with where he's going what's happening with Cushman enthusiast everywhere!Just post you comments and until Ron finds his own Blog Moderator I will be approving comments. I'll do it quickly if I'm at my computer, 12 hours a day but not always. My wife complains. But within a day, so check back often.I look forward to hearing from you.Paul Godaaka beachbird

Coeur at Cooper

There's a new trade show in L.A.

Today, I dropped by Coeur, the upscale accessories trade show produced by eM Productions, which debuted at the Cooper Design Space during Los Angeles Fashion Market.

The wares looked great--including an installation by the Society for Rational Dress, pictured above, and a cash and carry pop-up shop by A Current Affair. The word is several influential retailers (i.e. Fred Segal) dropped by first thing on day 1.

Tarina Tarantino. Cover girl.

Well, look who’s on the cover of today’s Wall Street Journal: Los Angeles jewelry designer Tarina Tarantino.

The Wall Street Journal’s Christina Binkley takes WSJ readers into Taranto’s “Sparkle Factory” (at the Cooper Design Space). It’s a great read. I especially liked this quote from the designer: "If you looked inside my brain, it's like a stove full of pots. Some are simmering, some are boiling, and some don't have anything in them."

L.A. Market Report: More sightings around market.

Caught a flick in the lobby of the Cooper Design Space. Leasing director Mona Sangkala and building owner Steve Hirsh hosted the Bill Cunningham New York” documentary about the legendary New York Times street fashion photographer. (That's Steve and Mona in the photo above.) Guests lounged on comfy couches and enjoyed truffle popcorn and beer. I hope they host fashion movie night every market!

Flying Trapeze With the Greatest of Ease

Lots of stuff happens at the Cooper Design Space's penthouse.

You've been to sample sales there, you've seen runway shows there, you've may even have been to a photoshoot there - but I can guarantee you that you've never seen a pair of twins dangling from the ceiling without a safety net.

Like so:

Ahem. That's crazy! And it's their signature move.

Satisfy Your Vintage Vibe

Fridays in the Fashion District have been chock-a-block with sample sales at the hundreds of showrooms in the area.

But there aren't a lot of vintage sample sales. That's all changing this Friday and Saturday (Dec. 10 and 11) with a curated pop-up vintage marketplace in the penthouse of the Cooper Design Space at 860 S. Los Angeles St.
