Bisou Bisou Designer Starts Yoga Wear Line

It seems that everyone is into yoga these days. Even your grandmother.

And a lot of smart apparel makers are following this trend by branching out into yoga wear. The latest to join the yoga apparel club is Michele Bohbot, the designing force behind the contemporary sportswear label Bisou Bisou, now sold exclusively at JC Penney. Her new line of yoga wear is called Electric Yoga by Michele Bohbot with prices ranging from $24 to $198.

Grand Opening for Hale Bob's First Store

The Hale Bob label, known for its flirty tops and dresses made of rich silks and velvets, has been around for several years. It's found in specialty stores around  the world.

Now the Los Angeles brand has its own flagship store. The Hale Bob store at 104 S. Robertson Blvd. opened its doors on Oct. 25, but it is having its grand opening on Thursday night.

Smart Sketchbook

It’s probably the most artificially-intelligent, super-smart a notebook can get without a battery. The Fashionary sketchbook is both a blank-paper sketchpad and a reference guide full of technical garmento definitions and construction details.

Designers get to hold onto that romantic experience of hand-sketching in a notebook at the neighborhood coffee shop and be technically on point down to the seams and stitch specifications as if using a CAD program.

Estée Lauder Puts in New Person at Smashbox Studios

Davis and Dean Factor of Smashbox Beauty Cosmetics

Estée Lauder hasn't quite completed its acquisition of Smashbox Beauty Cosmetics and Smashbox Studios in Culver City, Calif.

But the big New York cosmetic powerhouse has announced it is sending a top-ranking executive to Los Angeles to work with the L.A. company's founders and other top brass.

Who knew that behind that Bisou Bisou label was an accomplished artist whose canvases have been recognized by art dealers and critics alike.

Michele Bohbot, one of the founders of Bisou Bisou and its creative director, is in New York right now, where one of her paintings is being shown at the exhibition "Fleurs 1880-2010," which opens May 6 at the Benrimon Contemporary gallery at 514 W. 24th St.
