A Different Kind of Cattle Call

Here’s something you don’t see every day…(at least not in my 13 years working in the heart of the Los Angeles Fashion District)…a parade of cows.

Marching to the rhythmic thunk of a cowbell, a small herd of protesters dressed as cows and about a dozen more waving signs staged a demonstration in front of the California Market Center today during the Los Angeles Fashion Market.

Holiday Shopping in the Alley

If you really want to see where the holiday shopping throngs are congregating, try visiting the venerable Santee Alley in the heart of the Los Angeles Fashion District. Wedged between Santee and Maple streets, the four blocks with a bazaar-like atmosphere is known for everything cheap and trendy or kncoked off.

Fashion District Gets a Makeover

Shoppers in Los Angeles' Fashion District have seen improvements to Santee Alley, bus stops and even sidewalks thanks to a project spearheaded by the Los Angeles Fashion District. The $1.3 million project culminated this month with the installation of custom crosswalks at the corners of Los Angeles and Olympic and Main Street and Olympic. In total, 12 intersections received special treatment.
