When designer Christa Halby was working in business development to promote investment opportunities in foreign countries, she knew that she wanted to do more to help people.

“After having spent years working in developing countries around the world, I wanted to find a way to work with the local people and help provide them with opportunities to make a living and achieve a sense of economic independence,” she said.

Painting With Light at Nordstrom


Can touch this.

Nordstrom recently put on a little lightshow for Seattle residents in the windows of its flagship store. Actually, it was the customers and pedestrians who put on the show, thanks to a little Kinect magic cooked by Nordstrom’s interactive development, visual merchandising and operations teams.

I think we all were with our fellow earthlings when Christchurch happened.....& we all are together in this now that Japan happened too!! Faith & Magic at Nordstrom

With R&B vocalist Faith Evans singing, with philanthropic power couple Magic and Cookie Johnson presiding, the Nordstrom at The Grove retail center was the site for a private fundraiser shopping event on Feb. 18.

Proceeds went to Magic Johnson Foundation, which benefits organizations providing “economic empowerment" for urban communities.

If you are an avid bargain hunter, like I am, you will be happy to know that Nordstrom Rack will be opening a new store in Orange County.

Retailing west of the 405 Freeway just got a lot more fabulous.
 
Nordstrom opened its first full-line store west of the 405 Freeway on Aug. 27, when it debuted its location at the Santa Monica Place shopping center. The center opened Aug. 6 and offers stores such as Bloomingdale’s, Kitson and Barney’s Co-op.

Nordstrom's Revamped Website Is Less Catalog, More Social

In the Web world, a hefty redesign can mean a welcome, refreshing change or a navigation headache. Fortunately, Nordstrom’s newly revamped website has emerged with a pared down, sleeker look that seems less catalog and more Polyvore. For shoppers, the e-commerce navigation is more direct in its jumping off points. (Choices being Brands and Departments to take you where you want to go.)

Fashion Island Nordstrom Arrives With a Gala Party

 

The new Nordstrom at Fashion Island

Fashion Island is in the home stretch of its $100 million facelift. However, one of the jewels of the Newport Beach, Calif., retail center’s new look debuts April 16. It’s a more than 138,000-square-foot full-line Nordstrom, which was welcomed to The Irvine Company-owned center with an April 14 gala, which featured a visit from the Seattle-based retailer’s president, Blake Nordstrom.

Nordstrom Racking Up Off-Price Stores

The retail world is taking note that the American shopper is in search of bargain-basement prices.

With that in mind, Nordstrom Rack is on a buying spree of its own, shopping for several new locations in Southern California. The off-price chain has several new spots planned for the Los Angeles and Orange County areas, where, for many, shopping is a favorite pastime.The off-price store will be joining several full-price Nordstrom stores in the area.
