A look from Tadashi Shoji's Fall 2011 collection

The global fashion season is about to begin with New York Fashion Week the kick-off event, taking place Sept. 8-15.

The runway in the Big Apple is looking pretty congested with New York designers, but there are a few Los Angeles creative types returning to unveil their Spring 2012 collections.

'Twas a night of premieres July 19. Designer Rebecca Minkoff opened her first California shop-in-shop for her New York-based Rebecca Minkoff label. It is located at Confederacy, a boutique celebrated for delivering new, fashion forward and designer styles to Los Angeles’ east side, a neighborhood fiercely proud of its idiosyncratic vintage and bohemian looks.

Social fashion website Polyvore and designer Rebecca Minkoff are teaming up for a contest that puts Polyvore members’ sartorial skills to the test.

The sun may be shining bright in California right now, but Fall/Winter 2010 was on the minds of Golden State designers who unveiled their latest creations at New York Fashion Week, with some shows starting as early as Feb. 10.
