Perfect thing to stumble across right before the weekend. Tavi Gevison’s online magazine Rookie has a feature written by Rodarte designers, Laura and Kate Mulleavy, in which the two designing sisters discuss their favorite episodes of “Buffy the Vampire Slayer.”
This is geeky and good on so many levels.
For those of you with a really long Netflix queue, the two offer this helpful warning: “Spoilers like crazy throughout.”

LACMA Director Michael Govan interviewed Kate and Laura Mulleavy of Rodarte as part of LACMA's Director's Series on January 18. The sisters recently donated their Fra Angelico Collection to the museum's Costume and Textiles Department and spoke about the influence of art, film and literature on their designs. The collection is on display through February 5.

A collection of ten extraordinary gowns by Kate and Laura Mulleavy of Rodarte will be coming to LACMA this month. The pastel-colored, silk dresses were inspired by frescoes painted by the early Italian Renaissance artist, Fra Angelico, and were made for the Pitti Immagine Uomo fashion fair in Florence last June.

Mark your calendars, kids! The Mulleavy sisters will be presenting their first solo West Coast exhibit come March. Rodarte:State of Matters will show from March 4 through June 5 at the Museum of Contemporary Art at the MOCA Pacific Design Center.

“Quicktake: Rodarte,” just concluded at the Cooper-Hewitt National Design Museum in New York. But luckily for those unable to attend the exhibition, a video is available on Youtube.
