The swim world is preparing for its annual trek to Miami Beach, and this July there will be a landmark occasion to celebrate. SwimShow, the swimwear industry’s longest running trade show, turns 30 this year. The Swimwear Association of Florida (SAF) will fête this milestone anniversary at its annual event July 21 to 24 at the Miami Beach Convention Center.

It’s supposed to be winter right now in Southern California, though the thermometer has read otherwise lately. When those overcast clouds decide to arrive, the new Stila Loves L*Space makeup palette is a handy cheater trick to getting that sun-kissed glow. L*Space swimwear designer Monica Wise was showing the compacts at the recent Swim Collective show and said she picked bronzey blushes and a rosey lipgloss which make for a “natural beachy” tan.

Undrest is stretching out its limbs and growing new branches. The brand’s new store on Melrose Ave. (formerly on Robertson Blvd.) is like three mini shops under one roof: the original Undrest lingerie and loungewear; Undrest By The Sea swim and resort clothing and the new Undrest Artifacts line of leather bags.

The 2nd Annual Beverly Center Celebrates Fashion’s Night Out event promised and delivered on sizzle.

After four months of planning for the big night, a mall full of fashion fanatics were treated to celebrities,stores offering free sweets and drinks, and two runway shows at the mall’s Center Court. (A slideshow of the runway events appears on the Apparel News site.)

Sexy lifestyle brand Shay Todd launched its flagship retail store on Melrose Avenue with a packed party Thursday night.

The airy, resort-themed boutique features shopping, showrooms and a spa opening later this summer with professional spray tanning, massages, facials and nail services, along with an on-site café coming in the fall.  It is meant to be a “one-stop experience,” according to Todd.

Orange County swim designer Lisa Vogel as been named the spotlight designer at Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Swim, kicking off on July 14 and running though July 18 at The Raleigh in Miami Beach, Fla.
