Congratulations to all the California designers whose gowns appeared on the red carpet at last night’s Academy Awards.

A special shout-out to Octavia Spencer, who took home the Oscar for best supporting actress for “The Help” in a smashing gown by Tadashi Shoji. Spencer also wore Tadashi when she took home the Golden Globe earlier this year. Don’t you love a loyal fashionista?

LA Designers to New York Fashion Week

A look from Tadashi Shoji's Fall 2011 collection

The global fashion season is about to begin with New York Fashion Week the kick-off event, taking place Sept. 8-15.

The runway in the Big Apple is looking pretty congested with New York designers, but there are a few Los Angeles creative types returning to unveil their Spring 2012 collections.

The sun may be shining bright in California right now, but Fall/Winter 2010 was on the minds of Golden State designers who unveiled their latest creations at New York Fashion Week, with some shows starting as early as Feb. 10.
