Wheelmen & Co. Bikes + Mustaches

Two things that are inexplicably hip and guys are into right now: bikes and mustaches. Based in the Little Tokyo district of Los Angeles, Wheelmen & Co has both. Owner Bradford Ryan Riedell (what else could be done with a handsome name like that?) makes backpacks, bike bags and other accessories, “that are meant for commuting with.”

Amy, We Found Your Bracelet

(The L.A. Times calls this a “delicate diamond bracelet,” but I think it looks more like Carrie Bradshaw meets Jacob the Jeweler.)

Are You King of the World? And do you have at least $189 million and fancy yourself a steward of history? You’re in luck!

On April 11, more than 5,000 items and artifacts recovered from the Titanic will be auctioned off by Guernsey's Auction House in New York.

NOT a present from Joey
I really thought the answer to the bracelet question was going to be "Joey Buttafuoco's glove compartment".

Three Stores in One: Undrest Opens on Melrose

Undrest is stretching out its limbs and growing new branches. The brand’s new store on Melrose Ave. (formerly on Robertson Blvd.) is like three mini shops under one roof: the original Undrest lingerie and loungewear; Undrest By The Sea swim and resort clothing and the new Undrest Artifacts line of leather bags.

Spirithoods meets The Muppets. Fireworks Erupt at Their Perfect Union

It will be like finding a sunken boat in a swimming pool. A whole watermelon in the fridge. Sprithoods new collab with The Muppets will make “a surprise appearance during New York’s Fashion’s Night Out.”

Wherever they surface, they cannot not be seen.

Top It Off: DIY Hats

File under Quirky and Cool. Arts space Machine Project Los Angeles hosts perverse and often baffling events like building a forest in its office, group naps and musical performances composed from tomato-growing data. Its next (fashion-related) workshop is no disappointment: Exploration of Millinery: Sculptural Straw Hats Class with hatter Corina Haywood on July 30-31.

Hat Trick

Some say creepy. Others say whimsy. I say awesome.

Thank you, Regretsy, for introducing me to Tracy Widdess’ amazing custom-knit hats. Selling for $150 and up, they sell under the name Brutal Knitting. Although they look sufficiently warm for those of you living in colder climes, I think they would be perfect for Southern California, as well.

You can find more images of Widdess’ hats here.

Happy One-Year Anniversary to Cerre

Cerre will toast its one-year anniversary on May 13 by sharing some discount love. Using Italian hides, silk and cashmere and artisanal-quality craftsmanship, the clothing and accessories by Flavie and Clayton Webster is the classic-with-an-edge kind of stuff that looks fresh season after season.

Matahari Hearts Lovemade

Lovemade is like the brand version of the limited-edition pop-up retail shop concept. Every few months designer Linda Nguyen sprouts up with a new item in a series of one-of-a-kind, collaborative projects. First came the Lovemade x Han Cholo multi-chain single ear cuff. Now, Lovemade will release a handbag collabo with Hong Kong-based bag maker Matahari.

Hook and I
If you think you loved the Clipa, visit www.thefumi.com for the original inventors of the bracelet purse hook. Clipa credits our invention on various youtube and morning news programs. While visiting trade shows they purchased our product early 2009. Then launched their product in 7/09. Our FUMI has new styles and look for our new invention in early 2011.
