Two things that are inexplicably hip and guys are into right now: bikes and mustaches. Based in the Little Tokyo district of Los Angeles, Wheelmen & Co has both. Owner Bradford Ryan Riedell (what else could be done with a handsome name like that?) makes backpacks, bike bags and other accessories, “that are meant for commuting with.”

Undrest is stretching out its limbs and growing new branches. The brand’s new store on Melrose Ave. (formerly on Robertson Blvd.) is like three mini shops under one roof: the original Undrest lingerie and loungewear; Undrest By The Sea swim and resort clothing and the new Undrest Artifacts line of leather bags.

Arts space Machine Project Los Angeles hosts perverse and often baffling events like building a forest in its office, group naps and musical performances composed from tomato-growing data. Its next (fashion-related) workshop is no disappointment: Exploration of Millinery: Sculptural Straw Hats Class with hatter Corina Haywood on July 30-31.

Some say creepy. Others say whimsy. I say awesome.
Thank you, Regretsy, for introducing me to Tracy Widdess’ amazing custom-knit hats. Selling for $150 and up, they sell under the name Brutal Knitting. Although they look sufficiently warm for those of you living in colder climes, I think they would be perfect for Southern California, as well.

Lovemade is like the brand version of the limited-edition pop-up retail shop concept. Every few months designer Linda Nguyen sprouts up with a new item in a series of one-of-a-kind, collaborative projects. First came the Lovemade x Han Cholo multi-chain single ear cuff. Now, Lovemade will release a handbag collabo with Hong Kong-based bag maker Matahari.
