West Hollywood shopping always was pretty good, but it became red hot over the past few years, what with top flight designers such as Alberta Ferretti and Vivienne Westwood coming to town and high fashion shops like Arcade setting down stakes.

There’s been another pepper-spray shopping incident, 10 days after Walmart shoppers in Porter Ranch, Calif., were attacked in what was described as a case of Black Friday “shopper’s rage.”
Now, we’re hearing about a new incident, this time in a Nordstrom store in Walnut Creek, Calif. In the recent case, shoppers pepper sprayed a thief who was trying to abscond with $10,000 in purloined purses and detained him until the police arrived.

First there was Black Friday, then came Cyber Monday. This year, several retailers kicked the Holiday shopping off on Thanksgiving night, although there’s no consensus on a catchy name for it (may I suggest “Early Bird Thursday”?)
Now off-pricer Liquidnation.com is getting in on the first days of Christmas race with “Restock Tuesday.”

A new survey, released just in time for the holidays, found 60 percent of companies plan to squelch online shopping during work hours by blocking employees’ access to e-tail sites.

If you really want to see where the holiday shopping throngs are congregating, try visiting the venerable Santee Alley in the heart of the Los Angeles Fashion District. Wedged between Santee and Maple streets, the four blocks with a bazaar-like atmosphere is known for everything cheap and trendy or kncoked off.
