3MG's Murs, Eligh and Scarub and a whole lot of cell phones.
Hip-hop legends Murs, Eligh and Scarub kicked off LACMA’s Through the Mic series last night. Murs worked with the museum to create the new concert series, which explores contemporary Los Angeles hip hop and takes place the third Thursday of every month, in front of the museum’s famed Urban Light sculpture.
The sold-out show injected the museum with two hours of spirited fun and a lively sense of style.

And it makes sense, when you think about it. These are two dudes whose love affair with fashion is chronicled in their lyrics and their stage shows. Kreayshawn "Gucci Gucci" from Strange Customs on Vimeo.
Want to feel old? Want to dance around? Welcome to your summer jam. Warning, this song will imbed itself in your brain and you'll be singing "Gucci, Gucci, Louis, Louis, Fendi, Fendi, Prada" in line at the CVS.

Obey's Shepard Fairey moonlights as a DJ (he goes by the handle DJ Diabetic. True story.), political fire-starter and co-star of the Oscar-nominated documentary Exit Through the Gift Shop. I guess being a respected contemporary and street artist wasn't enough and now Fairey has added "director" to his long list of side-gigs.
Fairey, along with Death Cab for Cutie's Nick Harmer, directed a music video for the band's new single, "Home is a Fire."

It shouldn't be any surprise at all, seeing as how the apparel industry is rife with collaborations, but this latest one is sort of unique.
