More good news might be coming to the retail industry. After mostly positive retail sales were reported for December (The International Council of Shopping Centers reported U.S. chain-store sales increased 2.8 percent last month), the ICSC forecast decent sales in January, traditionally a month when many retailers focus on nothing more than getting rid of old inventory to make room for new Spring fashions.

Online pop-up shop Cutdrop.com is hosting weekly sales featuring contemporary designers and will donate a portion of the profits to a charity of the brands' choice.
The sales kicked off Oct. 19 with up-and-coming L.A. brand Seneca Rising, which will be one of the designers on the runway at Gen Art Fresh Faces in Fashion at Rock Fashion Week Los Angeles on Oct. 29. Some of the proceeds from Seneca Rising sales went to Fashion Targets Breast Cancer.
