I saw a dramatisation' on TV of the Thorn Birds many years ago and sat spell-bound? caiapvtted? from beginning to end. It was so unbelievably bad. Not often you see such cringeworthy stuff. Some time afterwards I read the book to see how it compared. It was definitely different; the characters in the TV production had had their persona amended to fit around the actors . . . but I never finished the book, it too was too much for me.

I am so proud of You My Zen Master, Bella! It takes snrtog people like you to remind us of priorities.I propose we, as fashion bloggers, come together to DO something together to help raise money for the people who are literally digging through the rubble for food and h2o right now, it's cold there, and many have no blankets, nor shelter...........Imagine if you will:Just another day, drove or biked to town, a siren sounds, u wonder what's up....Then you are hit like a mac truck with tons of water. You can't breathe....You grab a hand and are lifted to 'safety'.......For days you cannot reach your Mom, you cannot leave, for you are miles away from home and the roads are impassable or gone.......So you sit. You get thirsty and hungry, but a child next to you needs the snip of food you are given............You are getting weak and cold.....No news, til someone walks in to tell you the nuclear plants are leaking radioactivity into the air. You, and maybe your Mom are breathing it right now..........You watch as cadaver dogs are brought into the area........Is my family OK?This is a world tragedy, and this could be us.xXxRevaE-mail me !

Bring Out Your Red...Soled Shoes

These are the times that try men’s soles. The recent U.S. federal court ruling that shot down shoe designer Christian Louboutin’s contention that red soles are his soul domain has Brazilian brand Carmen Steffens kicking up its heels.

Poor Decision
I read through the decision and found it to be poorly reasoned, if not downright illogical. Louboutin already appealed so this battle is not over yet.

How to Make an Esquivel Shoe

Esquivel from David Hubert on Vimeo.

Designer George Esquivel knows how to make a good shoe. The fact that his shoes are all made by hand in L.A. makes them even better in our book. The Council of Fashion Designers of America and, um, Anna Wintour agree. In 2009, Esquivel was nominated for the CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund award. Here's cool video about the making of a pair of Esquivel's shoes. And turn the volume up. It sounds as cool as it looks.

Who Needs Models When All Your Friends Are Hip?

722 FIGUEROA - Fall Collection Release Event from TIGER TIGER on Vimeo.

The 722 Figueroa Showroom took a novel approach to Fashion Week - which is to say it opted out of the runway scenario in favor of hosting stylists and editors during the day and hipsters and retailers for a party at night. Held Oct. 14 at the downtown showroom (which sits on the very edge of Echo Park), the event was fun and cool and so L.A. - everything Fashion Week should be.

Gypsy05 Launches Gypsyz

Not quite socks, but not quite shoes, Gypsyz are a hybrid of cozy cotton knit socks with rubber soles. The unisex footwear was inspired by South American handmade booties and comes from the same makers of Gypsy05 clothing. The Los Angeles-based clothing line is known for its unique dying techniques that resemble tie-dye, marbled and ombre effects with a California-casual style of summery dresses, drapey cut sweaters and upscale sweats.
