Welcome Stranger: VSTR Site Launches

Jesse Faen formerly of Insight is now working with VSTR, a new steezy men's brand that's under the big umbrella of Quiksilver, but supposedly operates completely autonomously. VSTR set up rack during the last L.A. market to show buyers and chatter about the brand has been kept quiet. Now the new VSTR website offers a little taste of what’s to come.

He is maybe right he s maybe wrong he s maybe funny for some people and not for otrhes the only thing we all agree is that he s such a sick surfer with such a sick backhand after that, i m not on the tour, not in that ASP stuff but i know that quite a few pros pretty much agree with him about the new ASP rules, and he s pretty much the only one who s talking about it maybe not in the right way but who are we to judge him anyway

Irony of the Day: Non-Sports Brand Creates Sports Line, Misspells Sports Cheer

The good news? There's finally a place to buy a standard college, kinda trendy-looking pep t-shirt for Gameday that costs less than the arm-and-a-leg shirt from the school bookstore. Old Navy released information Thursday it will open in-store "Superfan Nation" shops featuring local NFL and college logos. Hurray!

O'Neill Looking for Athletic "Icons" and Coming to Cali

 Natalie Coughlin sporting O'Neill 365

To promote the launch of its 365 line, O'Neill is taking a road trip with star-athlete Natalie Coughlin in tow.

Coughlin, who could probably manufacture her own line of designer jewelry from Championship and Olympic medals (they total 19!),  will be the face under O'Neill's stylish, headphone-equipped "Replay Wired Hoodie," the legs wrapped in its seamless leggings, and the inspiration behind the company's Icons program.

Surfing in the Post-Apocalypse

YEAR ZERO TRAILER from GLOBE on Vimeo.

We have an unconditional love for anything prefaced by “post-apocalyptic,” especially when it’s the headline of a mood board. Globe, showing at Agenda starting tomorrow, will be premiering its newest surf flick “0000” (as in Year Zero) on opening night. The inspiration: “post apocalyptic.” The boardshorts: “like that pair of boardies you’d pull out of a trash.”

Shopping and the Scene at the US Open of Surfing

photo via usopenofsurfing.com

The US Open of Surfing in Huntington Beach, Calif., had lots of stuff happening: outdoor concerts; a runway walk-off competition; brands doling out freebies; and big-name pro riders, whose aerial achievements have been documented on the cover of skater, surfer and bmx biker magazines and who could be seen live in the flesh.

Tribe of Volcom: Spring 2011 Fashion Show

The Orange County diffusion of the hipster species (same cool-kid style, but add crunchy sun-bleached hair and deep tan as requisite accessories) caravanned en masse to the Cooper Design Space in downtown Los Angeles and mingled with L.A.’s scruffy East Side hipster set for Volcom’s Swim 2011 fashion show, held last night.

It's a classic crowd plseear when we have the family over!! Hannes taught them all how to swim. I guess all animals can if they have lessons, heehee! Our chickens figured out early that if they stop flapping and going crazy, they can actually float and paddle around the pool. Now, they are used to it and enjoy the cool off!

I'm With the Brand: (hypothetical) California Apparel News Boardies

Full disclosure: I’m totally knocking off The New York Times. They featured this website, Shortomatic.com, where you can put any image onto a boardshort. Imagine all the indecencies that those dirty-minded surfers are thinking of when they have carte blanche on crotch and rear printing real estate.
