Nike unveiled its new hi-tech uniforms for the University of Oregon’s football team this week, just in time for the Rose Bowl on Jan.2.
In what Nike calls “the most advanced football uniform system ever assembled,” the uniforms feature increased durability and a new Chain Maille Mesh technology to help wick away sweat and keep the body cool through engineered ventilation and thermoregulation.

Hello sample sale season for the holidays! For those in the shredders all way south, Blackbox Distribution is cleaning (ware)house in Carlsbad. They will be selling samples, overstock, and limited styles plus footwear, bikinis, skateboards and surfboards from their brands: Insight, Fallen footwear, Zero, Mystery, Slave.

Jesse Faen formerly of Insight is now working with VSTR, a new steezy men's brand that's under the big umbrella of Quiksilver, but supposedly operates completely autonomously. VSTR set up rack during the last L.A. market to show buyers and chatter about the brand has been kept quiet. Now the new VSTR website offers a little taste of what’s to come.

The good news? There's finally a place to buy a standard college, kinda trendy-looking pep t-shirt for Gameday that costs less than the arm-and-a-leg shirt from the school bookstore. Old Navy released information Thursday it will open in-store "Superfan Nation" shops featuring local NFL and college logos. Hurray!

Natalie Coughlin sporting O'Neill 365
To promote the launch of its 365 line, O'Neill is taking a road trip with star-athlete Natalie Coughlin in tow.
Coughlin, who could probably manufacture her own line of designer jewelry from Championship and Olympic medals (they total 19!), will be the face under O'Neill's stylish, headphone-equipped "Replay Wired Hoodie," the legs wrapped in its seamless leggings, and the inspiration behind the company's Icons program.

We have an unconditional love for anything prefaced by “post-apocalyptic,” especially when it’s the headline of a mood board. Globe, showing at Agenda starting tomorrow, will be premiering its newest surf flick “0000” (as in Year Zero) on opening night. The inspiration: “post apocalyptic.” The boardshorts: “like that pair of boardies you’d pull out of a trash.”

The US Open of Surfing in Huntington Beach, Calif., had lots of stuff happening: outdoor concerts; a runway walk-off competition; brands doling out freebies; and big-name pro riders, whose aerial achievements have been documented on the cover of skater, surfer and bmx biker magazines and who could be seen live in the flesh.

The Orange County diffusion of the hipster species (same cool-kid style, but add crunchy sun-bleached hair and deep tan as requisite accessories) caravanned en masse to the Cooper Design Space in downtown Los Angeles and mingled with L.A.’s scruffy East Side hipster set for Volcom’s Swim 2011 fashion show, held last night.

Full disclosure: I’m totally knocking off The New York Times. They featured this website, Shortomatic.com, where you can put any image onto a boardshort. Imagine all the indecencies that those dirty-minded surfers are thinking of when they have carte blanche on crotch and rear printing real estate.
