Overheard in the aisles, Agenda is like the new ASR. The newest edition at the Long Beach Convention Center on January 5-6 showed the breadth of categories that were merchandised roughly by skate, streetwear and surf brands in the cavernous cement floored space.

Shown editing a sunglasses buy in the Raen Optics booth here, these buyers had fun trying on the prescription glasses too. Their sarcastic conversation went like this, “Do I look smarter? I feel more intellectual.” “Whoa. You’re going to cure cancer.”

Fairfax Avenue’s male-dominated streetwear block gets a ladies touch with the Hellz Pop-Up shop at FourTwoFour
One of Lanie Alabanza-Barcena’s previous retail experiences—at Contempo Casuals—didn’t last long. “I worked there for one day!” said the queen bee of Hellz. They told her to compliment everyone who came in regardless of their outfit. She said she was not down with that fakeness.

Agenda drew a crowd of street/surf/skate brands and buyers to Huntington Beach, Calif., January 8-9. Held at the Hyatt Regency on Pacific Coast Highway, the show also benefitted from rad waves right across the street. (I say that not from any personal experience - the only time I've ever "surfed" I kicked some coral and sent my board flying into a stranger's cranium. I'm only reporting what I heard.)
