The Petersen Automotive Museum in Los Angeles has set the scene for so many fashion shows including Eduardo Lucero, Gen Art and the short-lived Rock Fashion Week. I recently dropped by the museum to check out a recent exhibition that pairs classic cars with the fashions of the times.

Nordstrom Glitz from the retailer's Newport Beach store
Retailing west of the 405 Freeway just got a lot more fabulous.
Nordstrom opened its first full-line store west of the 405 Freeway on Aug. 27, when it debuted its location at the Santa Monica Place shopping center. The center opened Aug. 6 and offers stores such as Bloomingdale’s, Kitson and Barney’s Co-op.

Vintage lovers, rejoice. A new curated vintage pop-up shopping event is set to debut during Fashion's Night Out in Los Angeles.
A Current Affair's opening-night preview party will take place on Sept. 10 and continue on Sept. 11 at the Cooper Design Space in downtown L.A. Created by Scout's Joey Grana and private vintage dealer Richard Wainwright, the vintage extravaganza is being hailed as SoCal's newest and most fashion-forward approach to the vintage market.

Some say creepy. Others say whimsy. I say awesome.
Thank you, Regretsy, for introducing me to Tracy Widdess’ amazing custom-knit hats. Selling for $150 and up, they sell under the name Brutal Knitting. Although they look sufficiently warm for those of you living in colder climes, I think they would be perfect for Southern California, as well.
