Frankie B. Swimwear Debut

Los Angeles-based Frankie B. has added sexy swimwear to its hard-rocking low-rise denim mix.

The beachwear collection, which owner/designer Daniella Clarke translated from Frankie B.’s low-rise easy rider denim, made its debut at Fashion Coterie in February in New York and features stretch-denim triangle top, bandeau, shirred bikinis made with matching side-tie low-cut bottoms as well as one-piece suits. Some pieces come in terry cloth fabrications.

Clarke also designed a Summer 2002 beachwear collection—an expansion of her successful velour leisurewear line—featuring knee-length tube dresses, hip-hugging terry cloth sweat pants, cotton fleece tube tops and drawstring miniskirts.

Clarke projects sales will reach $1 million for the beachwear collection in 2002.

Suits are offered in separate pieces and come in sizes 0–10. Wholesale price points range between $15 and $45 for tops and bottoms and $35 to $68 for the beachwear collection.
