Myers to Receive Thalians Award

Design consultant Ida Myers has been tapped to receive the fifth annual Thalians Lifesaver Award at a Sept. 21 brunch at the Warehouse restaurant in Marina del Rey, Calif.

Myers, a longtime member of the board of directors for the Thalians, is being recognized for her fund-raising on behalf of the group. She is also responsible for the Lifesaver Award, which recognizes people who have raised significant funds for philanthropic causes. She first proposed the idea of the award five years ago.

Prior award recipients include Thalians president Debbie Reynolds, board chair Ruta Lee, Los Angeles Kings general manager Dave Taylor, actress Connie Stevens and actor Hugh O’Brien.

The Thalians is a charitable organization that raises funds for the Thalians Mental Health Center at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles. The group, named after Thalia, the Greek goddess of comedy, was founded in 1956 by a group of young actors, although its membership has grown to include people from all industries.

The brunch will include a fashion show featuring Carol Wior swimsuits and live entertainment. Proceeds from the event will benefit the Thalians Mental Health Center. For more information or to order tickets, call (310) 423-1140.
