CMC Appoints Director of Retail

Cecil Strickland, the former director of retail relations for MAGIC International, has been hired as the executive director of retail relations and buyer services for the California Market Center (CMC). Strickland will be based in Los Angeles and report to Lorelyn Eaves, the center’s vice president of marketing.

“We’re really excited about the appointment—Cecil’s a high-level individual and his appointment shows our commitment to building a strong retail department,” Eaves said. Among Strickland’s goals are to initiate new service programs for retailers and launch a telemarketing campaign, along with hiring a new staff. He begins on Aug. 9.

“He’s been brought in because of his relationships in the industry and to set strategic goals,” Eaves said.

The CMC also announced that Jennifer Uner has taken over as executive director of advertising and communications for both hard and soft goods. Uner, who began Aug. 5, will oversee creative development and new communication programs both internally and with retailers, Eaves said.

Uner has served as show manager of the Edge trade show at MAGIC. Most recently, she was director of marketing and communications for Realtor.com. Prior to that, she was the vice president of marketing for shoppingtheworld.com. — Nola Sarkisian-Miller
