Nike, PCC Align With Tukatech

CAD/CAM provider Tukatech Inc. has recently locked up contracts with global powerhouse Nike Inc. and Taiwan-based Pou Chen Corp. (PCC), which is one of the world’s largest manufacturers of athletic footwear.

Tukatech will be supplying TukaCAD systems to the companies for production of footwear and other soft goods. PCC said its decision to align with Tukatech was driven by Nike’s recent move to use TukaCAD. Nike is PCC’s largest account.

“When we heard that Nike had switched to Tukatech, we decided to investigate,” said PCC vice president Johnny Tsai, who added that the company liked Tukatech’s training programs and customer service offerings.

Added Ram Sareen, Tukatech chief executive officer, “We are thrilled that such a large group of successful companies have chosen Tukatech. Together with major brands of apparel manufacturers, we now have the privilege of being the supplier to the most successful and prestigious names in the shoe business.”

In addition to Nike, PCC makes footwear for Reebok International, Adidas AG, Timberland USA, Converse Inc. and New Balance. The company has 400,000 employees based in factories around the world. —Robert McAllister
