Myanmar no More

Federated Department Stores has agreed to stop selling goods produced in Myanmar, formerly known as Burma. The Cincinnati-based retailer joins 29 other retailers that have agreed to stop selling such goods, according to the Free Burma Coalition, a human rights organization that has been urging retailers to cease selling products manufactured in Myanmar because of reports of human rights and labor law violations in factories there. Federated said it made the decision to stop selling the products because such violations are not in keeping with the retailer’s vendor supplier code of conduct.
