Marchel to Chair Downtown BID Committee, Honored by CCA

Hertz Investment Corp. president Kit Marchel has added another chairmanship to her downtown Los Angeles duties as the new chair of the marketing committee for the Downtown Center Business Improvement District (BID).

Marchel, who has been a board member of the Downtown Center BID, also serves as co-chair of economic development for the Central City Association (CCA) and is a member of the Government Relations/Land Use Committee and the Fashion District BID image/ communications committee. And, in her position with Hertz, owner of the California Mart, she helped usher in the deal to bring gift and home accessories tenants to the building (see related story here).

In all, Marchel said she sees synergies between her many appointments.

“With the new economy of gift and home in conjunction with apparel, my new position as chair of the marketing committee for the Downtown Center BID and my existing position as co-chair of economic development for the CCA dovetails nicely into everything that we’re trying to give our buyer base at the California Mart,” she said, adding, “I plan to present the best of L.A. to our buyers so they leave with a lasting, positive impression of our downtown.”

Marchel was also honored recently by the CCA at the group’s general membership meeting, where Los Angeles Mayor James Hahn addressed the crowd.

Marchel was one of several CCA members to be honored for their contributions to the organization. Todd Anderson of Cushman Wakefield, Dan Rosenfeld of Urban Partners and Steve Weston of Weston Benshoof were also recognized at the Jan. 17 luncheon. —Alison A. Nieder
