Macy's West to Debut Oakley Concept Shops

Macy’s West has entered into a partnership with Oakley Inc. to create in-store shops highlighting the sunglasses manufacturer’s extensive line of products.

Under the deal, Macy’s will open five Oakley shops by May 2002, with locations at its units in Union Square in San Francisco, Valley Fair in Santa Clarita, Calif., South Coast Plaza in Costa Mesa, Calif., Beverly Center in Los Angeles and Ala Moana in Honolulu. Each shop will feature Oakley eyewear, footwear, apparel and watches sold by an Oakley representative.

Oakley also announced results of its fourth quarter and full year ending Dec. 31, 2001. Fourth-quarter sales fell 3.3 percent to $90.2 million, and net income plummeted 66 percent to $3.3 million. Full-year sales were up 18.1 percent to $429.3 million, and net income fell 1.3 percent to $50.4 million. The company expects 20 percent to 25 percent revenue growth in 2002. —Nola Sarkisian-Miller
