MAGIC's Mix

It was a mixed-up season at WWDMAGIC’s Fall 2002 runway trend presentation titled Style File, held at the Sands Expo & Convention Center during the Feb. 19–22 run of MAGIC International in Las Vegas. Aside from traditional fall colors—brown, camel, rust, burned orange, burgundy—this season’s trends covered a variety of styles.

Familiar were pretty ruffled off-the-shoulder tops (and ruffles in general), lace and lots and lots of denim.Fur played a heavy role, and this season, it seems that faux isn’t necessarily the way to go. Rabbit, lamb, mink and shearling were just a few choices for fur on coats, jackets and vests.

Bohemia is back. Patchy, unfinished arts-and-crafts looks were seen on skirts, tanks and jackets.

Notable was Hot Kiss’s take on 1960s mod styles with a not-so-mod emphasis on corseted looks. —Joselle Yokogawa
