Urban Apparel Association (UAA) opened earlier this year with two collections by menswear designer Isaac Charles, but according to UAA president West Moore, the company has found its niche with leathers by Azzure and Outkast and denim by Karl Kani and AKA.
Moore said he anticipated the strong sales for Karl Kani and AKA but was surprised by the favorable response to New York-based Azzure, a newcomer to the West Coast.
“Azzure is very hot,” said Moore. “It’s surpassing some of the more established lines coming out of the East Coast.”
Moore also carries the clothing line associated with Outkast, the two-time Grammy Award--winning rap duo.
“I’ve been carrying Outkast since just before MAGIC [International in August],” said Moore.
“It’s a strong line, and the leathers are very strong. Last year, they made a big impact on the market by coming with style, design and great quality leather. For Fall and Holiday, we should do great.” —Darryl James
