Bebe Sport

Rain put a slight kink in the Nov. 7 party celebrating the Bebe Sport launch and Bebe’s holiday collection of glamour and color in fringed slip dresses and satiny gowns. The rooftop bash at the Downtown Standard Hotel moved to the lobby, where celebs Elisha Cuthbert, Andrew Keegan, Paul Sugarman, Jennifer Blanc and others checked out the informal modeling from the Brisbane, Calif.–based company in between spontaneous dance sessions.

General merchandise manager Tom Curtis said the line is all about “looking sexy in a casual way.” That meant athletic sweats modeled with high-heeled mules. Panne velour, French terry and fleece were a few of the fabrications used. Low-rise cuts; wider, ribbed waistbands; and striped pants were the differentiating touches. Bebe Sport’s first store opens later this month at the Westfield Shoppingtown Valley Fair mall in Santa Clara, Calif. About 25 more will follow in the next year.—Nola Sarkisian-Miller
