Golf Tournament Benefits City of Hope

On Oct. 28, Apparel Industries Group, a 69-year-old fund-raising organization for the City of Hope, hosted the 15th Annual Norm Crosby Golf Tournament at the North Ranch Country Club in Westlake Village, where more than $100,000 was raised to fight cancer.

Funds came from a combination of sponsorship dollars, live and silent auctions and $500 greens fees, according to Tom Sullivan of HSBC, who served as the chair of the event.

The day included the tournament, plus a series of scoring contests; the live and silent auctions, featuring donated items ranging from golf memorabilia to laser-eye surgery to free rounds at Southern California golf courses; and culminated in a dinner that evening.

The event’s largest contributor was Jerry Leigh Entertainment Apparel, a sponsor whose employees participated in the tournament, which drew more than 100 golfers.

Other sponsors included Karen Kane, Inc.; CIT Commercial Services; Mountain High Hosiery, Inc.; Trina Turk; Fineman West & Co.; Continental Business Credit Corp.; All Access/Self-Esteem; Capital Factors, Inc.; and Moss Adams, LLP.“The day was beautiful and it was a first-class event,” said Sullivan.

The tournament benefited the City of Hope’s National Medical Center and Beckman Research Institute, one of the world’s leading research and treatment centers for cancer, based in Duarte, Calif. —Darryl James
