Now Boston in Wisconsin

Birmingham, Ala.-based Saks Inc. announced name changes and consolidation of several of its Boston Stores and Younkers department stores in Wisconsin. Under the company's plans, the West Towne mall will now have two Boston Stores rather than a Boston Store and a Younkers store. One location will carry women's apparel, shoes and accessories, while the other will carry men's and children's apparel, men's shoes and home furnishings. Both will carry cosmetics. The renovations are scheduled for completion at the end of 2003. In Madison's East Towne mall, a Boston Store and a Younkers store will consolidate into the larger, 138,400-square-foot Younkers store, which will continue to operate under the Younkers nameplate. The consolidation is expected to be complete by April 2003. The company currently operates a Boston Store and a Younkers department store at the Regency Mall in Racine. By early next year, Saks will convert the Younkers to a Boston Store, which will carry home, gifts and seasonal home merchandise. The existing Boston Store, which was recently renovated, will continue to carry a full line of merchandise.
