New Upscale Urban Show Changes Name, Adds L.A. Installment

Threadshellip; That Rock the World, a new urban show merging music and fashion, has changed its name from Urban Rocks Fashion and will add a Los Angeles show in February of 2003, just before its debut in Las Vegas as part of the West Coast Exclusive. According to Stevie Goetz, one of the founders of the West Coast Exclusive, “This show is for those who want to look at things and take notes so that when they get to Vegas, they can just write the business. But also, in some cases, people won’t go to MAGIC, and they can just write business in L.A.”

Goetz said the name of the show was changed because the word urban turned out to be misleading for some.

“A lot of people were conceiving the show as just jeans, and there are a lot of upscale collections that would not be considered urban,” he said. “The show is more cutting-edge than urban and we are also anticipating some cutting-edge women’s collections as well.”

The original elements of the show, including the conference portion, will remain, said Goetz. Threads will hold panels to provide a forum on the merging of music and fashion.
