Exporting Seminar Set for L.A.

The Department of Commerce’s Office of Textile and Apparel will host an exporting seminar on Sept. 26 in the California Market Center Fashion Theater.

The seminar, titled “Exporting—New and Profitable Opportunities for the Textile and Apparel Industry,” will cover the resources and opportunities available for companies looking to begin exporting their products.

At the seminar, there will be a panel of industry experts discussing the impact of the Caribbean Basin Trade Preference Act and the African Growth and Opportunity Act on international trade.

Panel speakers include James Leonard III, deputy assistant secretary for the Department of Commerce’s Office of Textiles, Apparel and Consumer Goods Industries; Alexander Kramer, executive vice president, international trade, for the World Trade Centers Association; Ilse Metchek, executive director of the California Fashion Association; Bruce Berton, director of international business consulting for Stonefield Josephson; and Dr. Ruben Jaja of the Africa/U.S. Chamber of Commerce.
