Irie Denim by Jamaican Style

Jamaican Style wants to reach higher ground in retail by expanding its offerings. The Orange County, Calif.-based swimwear maker is parlaying its laid-back lifestyle into a new sportswear collection called Irie Denim.

The collection, which will be marketed to women between the ages of 19 and 32, fits the lifestyle of Jamaican Style’s customers, said Mike Cohen, national sales manager.

The company, which is among a handful of swim manufacturers to add sportswear to their mix, aims to offer more variety to its dedicated customers, said Cohen.

The 50-piece collection will feature silhouettes that complement an active lifestyle with shorts, capris, skirts and jeans made with stretch denim and a range of washes, including stone-wash, antique-wash, dirty blue–wash and medium stone-wash.

Halter tops, a stone-washed belted short, a ruffle skirt with rhinestones and lace-up capris are just a few looks from the collection, which also features a basic “Irie” work jean.

The youthful and stylish collection will wholesale between $12 and $19 and will be sold at Gadzooks, Dillard’s and Alloy. Deliveries begin 11/30.

First-year projections for the collection are in the range of $3 million, said Cohen.

On the horizon, the company plans to tap into markets in South America.
