Africa in Miami

The Corporate Council on Africa (CCA) will be on hand at the upcoming Material World Trade Show in Miami Beach, Fla., to promote sourcing in sub-Saharan Africa.

The show, which runs Oct. 7–9 at the Miami Beach Convention Center, was launched three years ago to be both a textile sourcing show and a production sourcing show for U.S. companies looking to produce in Caribbean Basin countries. The Miami Beach location was chosen to be a gateway between the United States, the Caribbean, Central and South America.

The CCA is looking for companies interested in taking advantage of the African Growth and Opportunity Act (AGOA), which provides trade incentives for goods produced in sub-Saharan countries using U.S. materials. AGOA was enacted last year in conjunction with the Caribbean Basin Trade and Partnership- Development Act (CBTPA), which was created to foster trade between the United States and Caribbean Basin countries. The CCA will bring a delegation of 10 apparel and accessories executives to Material World to meet with U.S. representatives looking for sourcing partners in Africa.
