Port Talks Continue

Talks between West Coast dockworkers and shipping companies continue following a breakdown over the Labor Day weekend. The Rev. Jesse Jackson joined the fray when he spoke at a union rally in Los Angeles on Sept. 5.

The International Longshore and Warehouse Union (ILWU) and the Pacific Maritime Association, an organization of major shipping lines, have been negotiating since July 1, when the ILWU’s contract expired. So far, port activity has continued uninterrupted during the negotiations.
