Cotton Inc. Celebrates Anniversary in Osaka

Cotton Inc. is celebrating the 20th anniversary of its office in Osaka, Japan. When the New York-based company first opened the Osaka office, it was the first of its kind for the cotton industry and helped the marketing firm forge new relationships with textile mills in East Asia and Southeast Asia.

The Osaka office offers information on fiber economics, fiber quality, fiber processing, dyeing and finishing, fabric development, and apparel and home fashion forecasting. The office also helped coordinate the COTTECH Asia Conferences, geared toward improving dyeing and finishing technologies, in Pusan, Korea, in 1998 and Kobe, Japan, in 2001.

Additionally, the office has recognized fabric makers in the region that have developed innovative cotton fabrics. Two Japanese companies have received Cotton Inc.’s “Global Recognition” awards: Nisshinbo Industries, which developed wrinkle-resistant cotton for apparel, and Kurabo Industries, which developed a 100 percent cotton mechanical stretch for apparel.
