Los Angeles Fashion Week Fall I 2003: Kablan

Bias-cut halter dresses and skirts made from men’s vintage- tie fabrics gave Kablan’s Fall 2003 collection a female perspective on men’s stylings. Designer Therese Kablan bowed her collection on April 3 at Smashbox Studios in Culver City during Smashbox Fashion Week.

For the collection, the designer used 20-year-old deadstock Italian silk with retro prints, such as jigsaw pieces and lightning bolts. Kablan incorporated bohemian looks, including a fluid, ankle-length teal-green silk skirt worn with a lace-waist silk halter top. Another favorite was a longsleeved shirtdress worn with a black sweater vest and kneehigh boots. —Claudia Figueroa
