Los Angeles Fashion Week Fall I 2003: David Park

Los Angeles–based designer David Park has found a way to capture timeless styles while adding a modern touch. Park presented his sophisticated offerings to a packed crowd on April 3 at Smashbox Studios in Culver City.

“I love recreating classic styles,” said Park, who stated that the late Jackie Onassis inspired a sleeveless, quilted-cotton black dress with silver side buckles. “I try to keep them sexy by adding color and a bit of a modern twist.”

For Fall, Park incorporated heavier fabrics into his collection. A tweed miniskirt and matching high-collar vest with leather-button detail worn over a sleeveless beige shirt was one outfit that turned heads. The designer’s knack for clean cuts was evident in pieces such as a green tweed sports jacket with matching trousers and a high-collar leather racing jacket with O-ring detail worn with black gabardine slacks. —Claudia Figueroa
