Whiteboy's a Hot Name at Kitson on Robertson

Los Angeles boutique Kitson, tucked away on posh Robertson Boulevard among shops such as Madison and Lisa Kline, is logging strong sales with new local line Whiteboy.

The tops-driven collection, which has garnered the attention of celebrities including Madonna and Ben Affleck, features black-and-white T-shirts with the Whiteboy logo and ribald phrases. Tanks and hats for guys and girls run from $48 to $68.

Visitors to Kitson are getting a sneak preview of the line, which is set to bow in September.

Customer response has been overwhelming, according to Christina Minasian, the store’s buyer.

“A great thing about the line is that it appeals to a wide range of ethnicities and age groups,” she said, adding that she placed an initial order for more than 200 pieces.

Whiteboy’s in-your-face fashions are also being sold at summer musical tours such as Lollapalooza and Ozzfest.

Kitson’s other offerings range from the California sports-casual sweats line Great China Wall to sophisticated footwear by Marc Jacobs and beauty products by Ole Henriksen. —Amanda Ezra
