XLarge Promotes Balatbat

Streetwear apparel maker XLarge announced the promotion of Ron Balatbat to menswear designer. He will coordinate design efforts with Eli Bonerz, co-owner and founder of the company.

“We’re very excited about Ron’s new position at XLarge and the fresh approach that he’ll bring to the line,” said XLarge Chief Operating Officer Cindy Wylie.

Balatbat joined the Los Angeles– based company four years ago as an accessories designer.

In his new position, he will design silhouettes that match the company’s fast-growing streetwise fashion. Additionally, Balatbat will continue to oversee the design and production of XLarge’s accessories division.

“I’ve been here for almost four years, and during that time, I’ve been able to get a grasp on how the company operates, the creative process and how the products are marketed,” said Balatbat, who plans to refine some of the current looks in the collection, as well as come up with new ideas for merchandising each group.

XLarge is sold in specialty stores such as Urban Outfitters. Founded in 1991, the company also has flagship stores in Los Angeles, New York and Tokyo. —Claudia Figueroa
