Tilly's Moving to Irvine Spectrum

Growing teen apparel retailer Tilly’s will move its corporate offices and distribution facilities to the Irvine Spectrum in Irvine, Calif., this summer.

The company has signed a 15-year, $12.7 million lease for a 170,000-square-foot Spectrum building that was formerly occupied by defunct online grocery chain HomeGrocer.com, according to brokers Voit Commercial and CB Richard Ellis Inc. Tilly’s will use about 30,000 square feet of the building for office space and 140,000 square feet for warehouse space.

Tilly’s acquired the building from Northwestern Mutual Life through Shaked Holdings LLC. The firm plans to move from its Barranca Parkway headquarters in Irvine by the third quarter of 2003.

Tilly’s chief executive officer Hezy Shaked said the move to Irvine Spectrum will centralize the company’s operations. The company’s offices and distribution center are currently located in two separate Irvine facilities.

Tilly’s specializes in surf, skate and casual clothing for teens and young adults. The retailer operates 24 stores in Southern California and plans to open six to eight more in this year. —Robert McAllister
