GCA Names New Board, Sets Scholarship Deadline

Los Angeles-based Garment Contractors Association of Southern California (GCA) has announced the names of its elected board and officers, said Joe Rodriquez, GCA executive director.

Jimmy Macias of Ja-Mar Apparel Mfg. Co. will serve as president. Donald Owen of California Joy Inc. and Curtis Innocente of My Shin Fashion will serve as first and second vice presidents. Robert Reed of Stitches Inc. is the treasurer and Karina Macias of MGM Apparel Inc. is the secretary.

GCA’s new board of directors for 2003 includes Brenda Daitch of Contract Associates, Shaun Ko of JL Fashion, Aaron Lee of Trinity Sports and Rolace Mehserdian of Jack Sr. & Sons, Inc.

The organization also is accepting applications for the Frank Waller Memorial Scholarship, a scholarship fund set up for the employees of GCA members and their families. The scholarships are awarded to high school seniors, college students and career students, and range from $250 to $2,000. The deadline is Jan. 15.

GCA will announce the scholarship recipients at its 32nd Installation Dinner Dance on Feb. 15 at the Quiet Cannon in Montebello, Calif. Tickets are $65 per person or $125 per couple. For more information, call (213) 629-4422. —Claudia Figueroa
