Fashion Week Calendar Entries Sought

Preparations for Los Angeles Fashion Week got underway as the Los Angeles Fashion Week Committee met to discuss Fashion Week Calendar deadlines for the Fall 2003 fashion week, set to run March 31–April 8.

This year, the week will run long to accommodate two new arrivals on the scene: Mercedes-Benz Shows L.A. and Smash- Box Fashion Week. Mercedes-Benz Shows L.A., the new entry from the producers of New York’s 7th on Sixth shows, is set to run April 1–4. SmashBox Fashion Week, produced by SmashBox photography studios, is planning shows for March 31–April 3. The California Market Center (CMC, formerly called the California Mart) has extended its market dates by two days to April 2–8 for buyers who are in town early to catch the runway shows.

The deadline for preliminary placement on the Fashion Week Calendar is Feb. 14. The committee is planning to post the first draft of the calendar on the FashionWeekLA.com Web site beginning Feb. 21. The site will be updated twice weekly until fashion week.

Designers and fashion-show producers are asked to submit the following information:

The Los Angeles Fashion Week Committee met to discuss coordination of the Fashion Week Calendar. Present at the meeting were CMC executives; representatives from California Apparel News, Women’s Wear Daily and Sportswear International; representatives from Smashbox studios; labels Panacea and David Park; and designers Darren Gold of Mhope, Eduardo Lucero, Nony Tochterman of Petro Zillia, David Paul of Nikolaki and Ayanna Henderson of Starchild. —Alison A.
