Huit's Parisian Roots

Contemporary swimwear maker Huit, a division of French parent company Huit Diffusion, has a knack for incorporating elegant, chic fabrications into its stylish swim collections. The latest collection adds lavish styles in novelty fabrics.

Huit’s swimwear line is for women between the ages of 25 and 45 who like sophisticated looks in their swimwear, said John Weingarten, director of Huit’s U.S. swimwear division in West Palm Beach, Fla.

Huit’s Cruise 2004 collection features 80 silhouettes in styles ranging from a sexy, plunging maillot to triangle bikini tops and string-bikini bottoms.

Sets in the collection wholesale for about $44. Several tops come with built-in underwire. The cleancut styles are offered in a calming color palette of gentle blues, soft pinks and warm browns. Huit has also added a handful of contemporary prints, such as abstract florals and paisleys, to the collection.

Founded in 1958, Huit Diffusion has two divisions: swimwear and lingerie. In addition, the company produces Jenna de Rosnay, a junior swim collection, and Cacharel, a contemporary swim collection.

Huit is currently sold at better boutiques and specialty and activelifestyle stores in New York, Miami and Los Angeles. Women’s sizes run from 6 to 14.

Buyers will get a chance to view Huit’s line—including its futuristic, astonishing brown modular onepiece—in July at the Cruise 2004 edition of the Miami Swim Show.
