Nesi Apparel Group Coming to L.A. Fashion District

New York–based Nesi Apparel Group LLC has signed a lease to occupy a 6,000-square-foot showroom in the Gerry Building in the Los Angeles Fashion District, according to building owner MJW Investments.

Nesi will be building out the interiors of the third-floor showroom during the next 30 to 45 days and will open its doors shortly thereafter. The company has the first right-of-refusal on the floor’s remaining 6,000 square feet, said MJW Director of Leasing Larry Hudson.

The company’s presence in the Gerry Building could help the refurbished art deco structure gain more high-profile tenants. The building opened last year after a major overhaul and has gained a number of sportswear, lingerie and accessories tenants. Owners had been seeking a major brand such as Nesi to anchor the building.

Last January, Nesi signed a $2 million deal with rapper Eminem to produce a line of hoodies, denim and shirts under the Shady Ltd. label. The company also produces the junior collection of Rocawear Inc. and Chief Executive Officer Vincent Nesi’s namesake brands, Vincente Nesi and Nesi AG.

Nesi established the Nesi Apparel Group in 1998 after leaving Bugle Boy Sportswear, which he co-founded and helped build into a menswear powerhouse in the 1980s.

The Gerry Building, at the corner of Ninth and Los Angeles streets, is at the hub of the Los Angeles Fashion District. It is near the Cooper Design Space, The New Mart and the California Market Center, which has also been leasing space to up-andcoming urban brands. —Robert McAllister
